Bitcoin Price Movements in August 2024

Bitcoin and Ethereum have shown resilience this month, with Bitcoin plunging under $53K earlier in the month but recovering with significant interest in crypto investment products. Ethereum funds broke a negative streak, suggesting a robust fund market appetite for crypto. A period of consolidation may continue for some time as we have mentioned in previous newsletters.

The monthly candle closing above the $61k could be a bullish sign that price has reclaimed the support/resistance line. Following the dip to $52k, price action recovered pressing upwards to the $61k line that appears to be a point of interest. Stay tuned for more updates as we follow price action in October. Many are expecting a breakout and conditions appear ripe with the FED’s recent rate cuts and equities markets trading at all time highs. Our analysts are following the situation closely.

Political Drama Ongoing: Bitcoin and Crypto in the US Presidential Race

The 2024 U.S. Presidential race has seen an unprecedented integration of cryptocurrency, particularly Bitcoin, into the political discourse, reflecting its growing economic significance and potential to influence policy. Here’s how Bitcoin continues to make headlines:

Public Appearances and Policy Promises:

Wednesday Septermber 18th, Former President Donald Trump made history in a New York City bar, becoming the first US president to ever use bitcoin to complete a transaction. He used the cryptocurrency to pay for burgers and beers he bought for patrons of PubKey, a Manhattan bar and restaurant famous for accepting Bitcoin, ahead of a Long Island campaign rally.

Trump’s keynote at the Bitcoin 2024 conference in Nashville was a pivotal moment. He promised to make the U.S. the “crypto capital of the world,” proposing a strategic Bitcoin stockpile, firing SEC Chair Gary Gensler, and establishing a Bitcoin and crypto advisory council. These policy promises aim to foster a crypto-friendly environment, potentially positioning the U.S. as a global leader in digital currency innovation.

Strategic Bitcoin Stockpile Proposal:

Trump’s idea of converting excess federal reserves into Bitcoin over five years marks a significant shift towards recognizing Bitcoin not just as a currency but as a strategic asset. This proposal, if implemented, would fundamentally alter how governments view and interact with cryptocurrencies.

Trump’s engagement with the crypto community isn’t just about policy; it’s about capturing a vote bloc that feels marginalized by traditional financial systems. His approach contrasts sharply with other candidates, making crypto a significant yet divisive issue in the election.
